Aashiqui 2 continues strong run at box office, collections near Rs 50-cr mark

Aashiqui 2, the Mohit Suri-directed love story, is continuing its great run at the box office with collections in its second week touching about Rs 17 crore.

The movie collected approximately Rs 17.25 crore nett in its second week. The two week distributor share stood at about Rs 26 crore.

Aashiqui 2's overall collections so far are fast nearing the Rs 50-crore mark, topping which it will become the third best grosser this year after Race 2 and Special 26.

Relatively unaffected by competition, the Aditya Roy Kapur- and Shraddha Kapoor-starrer has already emerged as the first super hit of the year.
Made on a budget of Rs 12 crore, the film is a remake of the 1990 hit Aashiqui. The movie is co-produced by Bhushan Kumar and Mukesh Bhatt under their banners T Series Films and Vishesh Films.

The romantic movie might have shared its release date with Iron Man 3, but it did brisk business by earning over Rs 20 crore in the first three days of its release itself.

The movie's music is garnering appreciation too, making it to the top of many listing charts. Bollywood actor Riteish Deshmukh had also recently tweeted how he's "hooked" to Aashiqui 2's music too.
