Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-leela is inching close to the Rs 100-crore mark at a good pace.
According to trade portal Boxofficeindia.com, the Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie had a very good first week, collection about Rs 75 crore nett at the box office.
According to trade pundits, the film, which earned over Rs 52 crore in its opening weekend itself, will sustain good business in the coming weeks too.
In Ram-leela, Bhansali has presented the fresh pair of Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone to narrate William Shakespeare's 'Romeo and Juliet' in desi style, with Gujarat as its backdrop.
Not surprisingly, the film's collections are still being driven by the circle.
The film also has phenomenal collections in Mumbai circuit, with performance in Delhi/UP, East Punjab and West Bengal bring rock steady on weekdays.
The movie, co-produced by Bhansali and Eros International Media, was released on November 15 in over 3,500 screens. It earned Rs 16 crore on its opening day, Rs 17.25 crore on the second day and Rs 19.50 crore on the third day, according to statement from Eros, which has also distributed the movie.
There is, however, some confusion over where the movie stands on the best opening week collections chart.
While Boxofficeindia.com says Ram-Leela is the fourth best of the year, trade analyst Taran Adarsh recently tweeted: "'Ram-leela' is fifth biggest opener of 2013... Deepika's third biggest opener... Ranveer's biggest opener."
Chennai Express, Krrish 3 and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani have the top three slots on the chart, according to Boxofficeindia.com.
The trade portal shared figures of Ram-Leela's second Friday business too. According to its analysts, the movie held steady in its second weekend, collecting around Rs 3.50-3.75 crore nett on Friday, despite not being screened in UP.
The multiplex collections of the film were far better than both the new releases this week - Singh Saab The Great and Gori Tere Pyaar Mein.
Ram-leela has garnered positive reviews from the film fraternity as well.
Megastar Amitabh Bachchan tweeted: "'Ram-leela'! The genius of Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the passion of Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh, the guile of Supriya Pathak and the rawness of Richa Chadda."
