Sun Pharma, Hindustan Unilever, ITC among five stocks that hogged limelight on Dalal street

BSE Sensex extended losses on Friday on sustained capital outflows by foreign funds and selling by retail investors, amid continued sell-off in global markets, reeling under fear that market favourite Hillary Clinton may lose US election.

The 30-share index closed the day at 27,274, down 156.13 points while the broad-based 50-share index ended at 8,433, down 51.20 points.

Below are five stocks that buzzed in trade today:


  1. HDFC and ICICI Bank: Shares of HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank fell 0.80 per cent and 1.55 per cent on intra day tarde, respectively after the two banks cut home loan rates by 0.15 per cent.
  2. Sun Pharma:  Shares of Sun Pharma took a beating on Friday's trade as the scrip ended the day 7.41 per cent down. According to a report by Bloomberg, US prosecuters are hitting hard on generic pharmaceutical companies over an investigation on price collusion.
  3. Larsen & Toubro: Shares of L&T fell 3.29 per cent in intra day trades but closed 1.78 per cent down. This came after the government decided to drop nearly 3 per cent stake in the company during the day for Rs 4,000 crore via a block deal.
  4. Monsanto: Shares of Monsanto India dipped 0.55 per cent in intra day trade after the company reported a net profit of Rs 0.89 lakh for the quarter ended September.
  5. Hindustan Unilever: Shares of HUL spiked 3.12 per cent in trade today along with other companies such as ITC and Colgate Palmolive which were top gainers on the BSE after the government announced the four-tier GST tax structure of 5, 12, 18 and 28 per cent.
