Christmas horror! Bug in Google app deletes December from its calendar

Google's mobile operating system has 'cancelled' Christmas for millions around the world, almost literally. A bug in the technology giant's People app seems to be at fault.

The Android 4.2 OS, also known as Jelly Bean, has the built-in app that pulls in information from your calendar and social networks to give you status updates and reminders about your contacts.

Media reports says some users of Android 4.2, the system's newest update, have shared they can't add any important diary entries in the app for the month of December because its calendar skips from November to January.

Strangely, the bug does not affect the Calendar app in Android 4.2, where December is there for all to see.

Online reaction to the bug has been scathing.

'Is Google the new Grinch who stole Christmas?' said technology website CNET. 'Sure, the month of December can be expensive and stressful, but Google apparently has an app for avoiding it,' it added.

Business and entertainment news website Business Insider couldn't resist making a sarcastic comment either: 'The new version of Android thinks there are only 11 months in a year.'

A Google post on an Android troubleshooting board indicated that the company is looking into the problem.

Android 4.2 is found on several devices, including Google's Galaxy Nexus phone and Nexus 7 tablet.
