The Union Cabinet has approved the upgradation and modernisation of Nagpur International Airport through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced. The decision is being seen as a major push for India’s aviation infrastructure and regional connectivity ambitions. Under the PPP framework, a private partner will be selected through a long-term licence arrangement to modernise and expand the airport’s facilities, improve passenger experience and boost operational efficiency. Nagpur, strategically located at the centre of India, is expected to emerge as a bigger aviation and logistics hub after the upgrade. The move also highlights the government’s continued focus on infrastructure-led growth and private sector participation in key transport projects. The announcement is likely to boost investor interest in India’s fast-growing aviation sector.
