Aditya Birla Group Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla shared a remarkable story from India's early years after Independence. Speaking at the RSS Karyakarta Vikas Varg – Dwitiya, Birla revealed that Grasim, the flagship company of the Aditya Birla Group, was incorporated just 10 days after India gained Independence in 1947. At a time when Partition had disrupted supply chains and left cotton-growing regions in Pakistan, India's textile industry faced a massive crisis. Birla said his great-grandfather, G.D. Birla, refused to accept dependence as destiny and instead chose to build new capabilities. Drawing a parallel with today's AI revolution, geopolitical tensions and global uncertainty, Kumar Mangalam Birla said India must once again focus on resilience, self-reliance and long-term nation building.
