In conversation with Siddharth Zarabi, Group Editor, Business Today, at BT India's Most Sustainable Companies 2026, Hero MotoCorp CEO Harshavardhan Chitale detailed the company's sustainability journey and net-zero roadmap. He said Hero committed in 2020 to becoming carbon neutral, water positive and zero-waste-to-landfill by 2030. The company has already reduced carbon emissions by 45%, achieved 500% water positivity and reached 95% product recyclability. Chitale emphasized that sustainability must extend beyond factory operations to products themselves. While electrification remains the long-term solution for the auto sector, he said flex fuels and biofuels offer an immediate pathway to reducing emissions as India advances toward its net-zero goals.
