The India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) has officially come into force, marking a landmark moment for bilateral trade. Speaking at the launch ceremony, Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal revealed that over ₹140 million worth of goods were shipped to the UK on the very first day under the agreement. He described the pact as one of India's most aspirational free trade agreements, aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. Engineering, textiles, apparel, leather, agriculture, marine products and rubber sectors are expected to benefit from improved market access and lower trade barriers. Customs clearance and Rules of Origin certification have already begun, enabling exporters to leverage the agreement from day one.
