External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has underlined the growing strategic importance of the Indo-Pacific region, saying the responsibilities of the Quad will expand significantly in the coming years. Speaking after the Quad meeting, Jaishankar emphasized that economic activity, energy trade and maritime commerce in the Indo-Pacific will become even more critical for the global economy. He said the Quad nations must prepare for a larger role in ensuring a free, open and stable Indo-Pacific. His remarks come amid rising geopolitical competition and growing focus on maritime security, trade routes and strategic partnerships in the region. The statement is being seen as a strong signal of India’s commitment to deeper cooperation with Quad partners - the US, Japan and Australia - on regional stability and global economic security.
