Congress MP Shashi Tharoor termed the US military operation capturing Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro a 'momentous event' with serious implications for the international order. Reacting to the development, the Thiruvananthapuram MP observed that 'you don't see every day a country marching in and capturing the president of a sovereign nation'. Tharoor noted that 'international law and the UN Charter are not being observed in the old ways' and warned that a version of 'might is right' is prevailing in global affairs. He stated that while he would leave the official response to the government, every country must now 'adjust its diplomacy accordingly' in light of these shifts.
