Planning a trip to Goa? The state government has introduced new tourism rules under which 19 common tourist activities have been classified as punishable nuisances. Tourists can now face fines ranging from 5,000 to 1 lakh for violations such as organising unauthorised beach parties, hiring unregistered guides or masseurs, purchasing cruise or water sports tickets from unofficial sellers, drinking in prohibited areas, littering, cooking outside designated zones, driving on beaches, blocking emergency or lifeguard vehicles, or dumping waste near beaches. The rules are aimed at protecting Goa's coastline and empowering police and tourism officials to take immediate action. In certain cases, violators may also face prosecution under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. Watch this video to understand the new rules before your next Goa trip.
