Speaking at the Raisina Dialogue 2026, India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar shared a powerful perspective on the evolving global order and the meaning of the Global South. Jaishankar said the Global South is not just a diplomatic label but a shared emotion and sense of solidarity among countries with similar historical experiences. He highlighted how India’s decision to supply vaccines to developing nations during the COVID-19 pandemic demonstrated that this solidarity is real. He also pointed out that the Global West is becoming more differentiated, while the idea of a unified Global East remains weak and largely conceptual. The remarks underline India’s growing role in shaping global conversations and representing the voice of developing nations on the world stage.
