South African companies are looking at India more aggressively across manufacturing, technology, defence and nuclear energy, says Sachin Ahuja, CEO, Alfeco Holdings Group. Speaking with Business Today's, Group Editor, Siddharth Zarabi at the India Today BRICS Roundtable, Ahuja highlighted the potential for deeper India-South Africa cooperation in defence, where companies could bring specialised technologies to the Indian market. He also pointed to South Africa’s experience in small modular reactors (SMRs), particularly pebble-bed modular reactor technology developed over decades. With India opening up opportunities in the nuclear sector, Ahuja said South African companies are exploring partnerships and bringing relevant technologies into India. He noted that the technology being discussed uses uranium and helium as a coolant, opening another potential avenue for strategic India-South Africa cooperation in advanced nuclear energy.
