Amazon India is taking on Flipkart by launching the Great Indian Sale at the same time as Flipkart's Big Freedom Sale. Amazon's sale began at midnight yesterday. The sale will go on till August 12 whereas Flipkart's sale will end on August 11.
The US-based e-commerce giant is offering discounts on gadgets, fashion, large appliances and other segments. Amazon prime members, who need to pay a yearly fee of Rs 499, also get 30 minutes early access to some top deals.
Other than that, there are additional app-only offers available for a limited period only; Amazon Pay and holders of credit or debit cards from certain banks will get additional cashbacks. The in-app purchase can also get the buyer an all-expenses paid trip to Bali.
According to a MailToday report, the worlds' largest ecommerce company Amazon's profit for April-June quarter plummeted 77 per cent although sales surged 25 per cent as it invested heavily in video content and fast-growing economies like India.
