There's no denying that a large part of today's population prefer online shopping but offline stores still hold the bigger chunk of the market. To revamp themselves and stay relevant in times of Big Billion sales and New Pinch Days, many are collaborating with online retailers to attract buyers. And mobile first financial services platform Paytm, with its online payment system, wants to cash in on their popularity by being a bridge between buyers and offline merchant partners. Riding high on the success of its offline annual sale festival in 2016, Paytm has come up with the second edition of '12/12 Festival' for its over 5 million offline merchant partners accepting Paytm by offering best deals and cashbacks up to 50 per cent.
The offline platforms where Paytm users can get discounts and cashbacks by using the app are organised stores, supermarkets, restaurants, pharmacy stores, petrol pumps, milk-booths, and small retail merchants. The company said the 12/12 Festival celebrates the inclusive power of mobile payments and offline retail. "The company aims to facilitate brick-and-mortar retailers to tap into the digital movement with Paytm, attract new customers, and grow their businesses multi-fold," said the company in a statement.
All major brands and FMCG stores in India, who accept QR code based mobile payments, will participate in this campaign by hosting deals and assured cashback. Major brands participating in the scheme are Big Bazaar, Pizza Hut, Reliance Digital, Pantaloons, Apollo, Peter England, Lenskart and Cafe Coffee Day.
"Paytm is accepted at large retail chains as well as small stores across the country. With our '12/12 Festival', we celebrate customers walking into stores by offering great rewards for using Paytm." Under the company's cahsback offer, customers can avail cashback of Rs 100 and Rs 200 on grocery purchases of Rs 1,000 and 1,500, respectively. Eateries using Paytm will offer discounts of 30 per cent on a bill of Rs 599 at Pizza Hut and 20 per cent cashback on a bill of Rs 300 on Cafe Coffee Day. Under the fashion and apparel category, customers can avail up to 50 per cent discounts on merchandise at Pantaloons, and 'Buy 2 Get 2 Free' offer at United Colors of Benetton. Paytm users can also enjoy deals and cashbacks while shopping at their neighbourhood stores.
