IMF's Christine Lagarde says India poised to become world's fastest growing economy

International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Christine Lagarde on Monday said India was on its path to becoming the world's fastest growing economy, as she bagan her two-day visit to the country.
"Wondeful to be back in vibrant India - poised to become world's fastest growing large economy," Lagarde tweeted, as the multilateral funding institution predicted a 7.25 per cent growth for the country in the current financial year, and around 7.5 per cent in the coming 2015-16 financial year.

According to IMF officials in the national capital, Lagarde's itinerary during her two-day India visit - which takes her to Mumbai on Tuesday - includes meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and key leaders such as Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Raghuram Rajan.
In addition, The IMF head is scheduled to deliver a speech at Lady Sri Ram (LSR) College in the capital besides attending a public event hosted by the RBI in the financial capital on Tuesday.
Lagarde will then travel to China on a five-day visit.
