The Rs 20 lakh crore special economic package announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday is the fourth-highest in the world. PM Modi said that the economic package will be around the 10% of the GDP and is aimed at solving the problems of several bleeding sectors as well as migrant labourers. Although the details of the Rs 20 lakh crore economic stimulus package will be doled out by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will be doled out on Tuesday, experts say that the package may include some prior economic measures taken by the government and the RBI. The Centre had brough the policy rate down by 75 bps to 4.4% in March and had infused liquidity in the economy to the tune of 3.1% of GDP between February and April.
