Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2017 LIVE: PM Narendra Modi, Ivanka Trump address the inaugural session of GES 2017

Niti Aayog in partnership with the Governments of the United States is hosting the eighth edition of the Global Entrepreneurship Summit in Hyderabad. Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate the summit today at 4:30 PM.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump's daughter and his advisor Ivanka Trump addressed the inaugural session of the Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2017 in Hyderabad today. Ivanka stated that the Hyderabad is fast becoming the hub of investors in India. On the other hand PM Modi stated that his government is doing everything to promote entrepreneurs in the country.

Ivanka Trump is on a three-day visit to India. Ivanka who is also an American television personality, fashion designer, author and businesswoman is visiting the country on the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During the visit, she will lead the US contingent to Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2017. This is the first time that the Global Summit is being held in South Asia.

After the welcome remarks by the Prime Minister and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, Ivanka Trump will address the summit. She is likely to stress on ensuring women entrepreneurs have access to capital, access to networks and mentors, and access to equitable laws, PTI today reported. According to excerpts of her speech obtained by PTI, Ivanka is likely to speak on fuelling the growth of women-led businesses and how all over the world entrepreneurs are revolutionising our economies, and improving our societies.

The theme of the summit for this year is: Women First, Prosperity for All. "This will be the first GES in which women are the majority, over 52.5 per cent, of the participants," Niti Aayog said in a press statement. More than 10 countries will be represented by an all-female delegation, including from Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, and Israel. A number of leading female voices including tennis champion Sania Mirza, Google Vice President of Next Billion Users Diana Louise Patricia Layfield, and CEO of Afghan Citadel Software Company Roya Mahboob will also participate in the summit. In addition to entrepreneurs travelling from across the globe to share their stories and innovative projects, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will also participate in GES.

Global Entrepreneurship Summit
Global Entrepreneurship Summit is an annual entrepreneurship gathering that convenes emerging entrepreneurs, investors and supporters from around the world. It started in 2010. This is the eighth edition of the GES. The first seven summits were held in Washington DC, Istanbul, Dubai, Marrakech, Nairobi, Kuala Lumpur,  and Silicon Valley. This year is the first time GES will be hosted in South Asia, and the event will highlight India's enabling environment for innovation and entrepreneurship - including actions by the government to increase the ease of doing business, eliminating unnecessary regulations, and supporting startups.
