India has become the preferred open economy for foreign direct investment (FDI), said Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister of Gujarat. While addressing the Gujarat Investment Summit in the Make in India Week, she said the single-window clearance mechanism for investment proposals has helped Gujarat grow as the "Investment Gateway of India".
"The Gujarat government's policies for electronics, IT/ ITES, textile, cottage and plastic industries, manufacturing, tourism amd MSME encouraged investments and job creation in the state. The state is coming up with policies in aerospace and defence, agro food processing and smart cities," she said.
The policies are industry friendly and changes have been made in many existing policies for ease of doing business in Gujarat. The government formulated different committees for the implementation of the memorandum of understandings (MoUs), which is supervised by the chief minister.
"We promote MSME sector in Gujarat as they are the backbone of economic growth. Additionally, we are setting up Women Park for women entrepreneurs," she added.
