Sacks of half-burnt Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes found outside Bareilly

One day after PM Narendra Modi announced the discontinuation of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes, sacks of burnt notes were found outside Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh.

One day after PM Narendra Modi announced the discontinuation of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes, sacks of burnt notes were found outside Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh.

During the announcement made on Tuesday, the Prime Minister stated that the move was taken in absolute secrecy until the  very day it was executed. After the declaration most people with stacks of black money were left with nothing but stacks of trash.

According to sources, the burnt currency notes were reportedly brought in sacks and then dumped by workers of a company on Parsa Kheda Road in C.B. Ganj area in the city. The police confirmed that the notes were found charred and partially damaged.

So far, there is no report as to who the sacks of cash belonged to. Meanwhile, the police has claimed the remains of the notes and sent an official notice to the RBI.
