At the BT India@100 Summit, Maharashtra FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe opened up about the risks he faced during his 21-year career as a civil servant. In conversation with India Today TV’s Preeti Choudhry, Mundhe recalled receiving a threatening letter after taking action against the sand mafia during his early posting in Nanded. The letter warned him to back off and threatened that his blood would be spilled. Mundhe also recounted a frightening incident in 2016, when he was serving as Solapur Collector. While pursuing a truck carrying sand, the vehicle attempted to ram his official car. Despite the danger, Mundhe said he continued with his duties and proceeded to attend a scheduled meeting. He also spoke about threats he has received during his career and the personal cost of public service.
