According to Election Commission's (EC) website, IT and law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad defeated Congress' Shatrughan Sinha by a margin of 2,78,198 ballots. The IT and Law Minister won 5,95,490 votes, while Sinha won 3,17,292 votes.
Modi led his Bharatiya Janata Party towards what is certain to be a resounding victory for a second term in office. "It is the people's decision and we fully respect it. We congratulate the BJP workers, leaders and Prime Minister Narendra Modi," Priyanka Gandhi told reporters at the AICC headquarters in Delhi.
