NOKIA ASHA 502
Price: Rs 5,199
The Asha series was Nokia's response to the growing low cost Android smartphones. The company first came up with the Asha 501 and the Asha 502 is a natural successor.
It is a budget phone, so don't expect it to have a big, bright display. The 502 has a 3-inch display with 240 x320 pixel resolution. The touch is responsive and good enough to browse the web and play basic games. It looks exactly similar to its predecessor with some added shine. There is a back key below the display and the volume and power keys are on the side.
The 502 connects to the internet for browsing the web, accessing social networking sites like and even checking emails. There is an Xpress browser on board that reduces data consumption by 90 per cent. While the device comes preloaded with a few apps and games, one can download more from the store that is optimized for this platform. The sound clarity was good.
The onscreen keyboard was comfortable to type on. The phone also packs a 5MP fixed focus camera. The images are good in daylight but have some distortion when captured using flash. But considering the price, we are not complaining.
The Asha 502 comes with a good battery backup that gave me over two days on a single charge with extensive usage.
