What it means: A mix of 'hate' and 'pathos', it gives a name to the feeling of pleasure derived from hating someone or something.

Origin: Invented by American journalists in the 1980s. First appeared in print in an article in The Washington Post in 1987.

Usage: "I have such hathos for my boss, I would miss him if he quit the company."
