Letters to the Editor - August 2012

Your anniversary cover was a delight to read; a collector's issue if you ask me. I will pick it up every time I have to buy a new gadget this year. Hope you will do similar stories every year. - Harikrishnan R, Kochi

Keep Up The Good Work
G&G, congrats on completing three marvellous years. Hope you keep on delivering all the new gadgets and news related to the field of technology before all the tech shows on the idiot box. I have never seen such an outstanding magazine. Being a subscriber, I have myself experienced the thrill of your magnificent work over the last three years. Hats off to the India Today Gadgets & Gizmos team. - Divay Khurana, on email

Time To Regulate Cable Television

Apropos "Channels as you like them" (G&G, July 2012). By November, it will be compulsory to digitise cable TV in the metros. But still TRAI has not been able to regulate cable TV, including DTH, across the country. There should also be a cap on all available channels, including free-to-air ones and a single rate for all channels. There are more than two television sets in many households, and so additional charges must not be imposed on these sets. The total cost per month for three sets should be capped at Rs 500. I wonder why all free-to-air channels are not telecast by DTH providers. The technology must improve so that transmission is not affected during rain. - Mahesh Kapasi, on email

Are you hiking the price?
I have been a big fan of this magazine since its inception in 2009. The best part of G&G is that it provides information about all the current trends and gadgets at a very reasonable price. At a time when input costs have been rising, are you contemplating a price hike? Secondly, due to the growing popularity of gadgets like the iPad and Kindle don't you feel we are heading for a big e-magazine market where hard copies will almost cease to exist? It will be convenient if you keep updating and providing knowledge on direct and indirect health hazards of different gadgets. Although we are gadget freaks, we must know our limits. I suggest that in each issue a specialist in his/her field be called for expert comments on different matters with readers getting the opportunity to question them. Also, hope you will increase the number of contests and prizes. - Gitansh Pandey, Jalandhar
