How Anil Kumble’s brand valuation is doing after his recent successes in Australia? Mahesh Ranka, General Manager at Relay, the sports division of media firm Starcom Medivest, says: “He has always been around, but suddenly, everybody is talking about him.”

Despite, having been a match winner for India for almost two decades, Kumble has never been much in demand on the endorsement circuit. India’s Test captain currently endorses Manipal Education and ING Vysya Bank and charges Rs 80 lakh-Rs 1.2 crore per endorsement. “He is a very good brand but has not been marketed enough,” says Anirban Das Blah, VP, Globosport, the Bangalore-based sports management company. Adds Harish Bijoor, the Bangalore-based brand consultant: “The true value of Brand Kumble is being realised only now.” According to Bijoor, his price could rise to Rs 2 crore.
