Spice Dream Uno Mi 498

Price: Rs 6,299

Specs: 4.5-inch display; 5-MP camera; 1GB RAM; 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 4GB internal storage, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth

The first wave of Android phones that were launched in India came from Micromax, Karbonn and Spice. All three had similar specifications and it boils down to user experience.

The packaging of the Spice Uno Mi 498 is similar to the Karbonn's Sparkle V. Going by the Google guidelines for the Android One smartphone, the Spice Uno Mi 498 too has a 4.5-inch display with 854x480 pixel resolution and a 218ppi.

The display was brighter compared to the other two Android One smartphones. The phone is compact and has rounded edges. The back has a rubberised finish.

The best part about the phone is the stock Android user interface that makes it easy to use even for first time smartphone users. Running on Android KitKat, the phone runs on 1.3-Ghz quad-core processor and 1GB of RAM.

The internal storage is only 4GB, of which only 2.27GB is user accessible.

The phone does all the basic tasks with ease. The device did heat up a bit after continuous video streaming. The 5-MP camera did a decent job but I was not able to capture a single image without a memory card.
