Sun Pharma shares rise 5.9 per cent to record high

Sun Pharma's share price waw heading towards its biggest daily gain since April 2014. Meanwhile, shares of Sun Pharma Advanced Research Company rose by 6.4 per cent.

Shares of Sun Pharmaceutical gained 5.9 per cent to a record high of Rs 998.70 a piece at the domestic stock market on Wednesday, heading towards its biggest daily gain since April 2014.

The home-grown pharma major had on Tuesday said that it had agreed to buy GlaxoSmithKline's opiates business in Australia.

Meanwhile, shares of Sun Pharma Advanced Research Company climbed up by 6.4 per cent after USFDA approval for anti-epileptic drug.

The drug will be manufactured by Sun Pharma at its Halol facility in Gujarat.

Analysts said that the approval sparks hopes that the US drug regulator has given relief on Sun Pharma's Halol plant, which was inspected by it in September.
