Extending its gains for the third straight session, information technology major Tata Consultancy Services surged over 2 per cent to touch a lifetime high of Rs 1,126.90 in early trade on the Bombay Stock Exchange on Thursday.
Having jumped 2.45 per cent in the previous two sessions, TCS started the day on a strong note and rose 2.32 per cent to an all-time peak of Rs 1,126.90 on BSE.
Another IT bellwether, Infosys Technologies, also registered a smart gain of nearly 2 per cent. Infosys, which carries the maximum weight in the Sensex pack after Reliance Industries, rose 1.79 per cent to touch an early high of Rs 3,261 per piece.
Meanwhile, software giant Wipro rose 1.53 per cent at the start of trade.
Experts said the strengthening US dollar boosted the attractiveness of IT stocks. TCS and Infosys were instrumental in driving the Sensex 75 points higher to 19,723.13 in the morning session, they added.
