With shares of companies, who won Reserve Bank of India's licence for payment banks, being in demand here are the five stocks that remained in news today:

 

  1. Infosys: The Infosys stock was headed towards its biggest one-day fall since April 2014 ahead of a major announcement due later in the day. Investors worry that announcement might be related to $1 bn worth of acquisitions which may weigh on company's earnings. Its shares fell by 3.14 per cent to close at Rs 1138.20 apiece on Thursday.
  2. Amtek Auto: Amtek Auto shares extended their downtrend for the second straight session on Thursday, following news of exclusion of the company's futures and options (F&O) contracts from equity derivatives segment, with effect from October 30. Its shares fell by 28.37 per cent to close at Rs 63.75 apiece on Thursday.
  3. Bharti Airtel: Shares of Bharti Airtel were in demand today as the company got Reserve Bank's nod to set up non-lending payments banks as part of the financial inclusion drive. But near to closing its shares fell by 0.98 per cent to close at Rs 379.35 apiece on Thursday.
  4. Tech Mahindra: The company got the Reserve Bank's nod to set up non-lending payments banks as part of the financial inclusion drive. Payments bank licence will allow it to collect deposits (initially up to Rs 1 lakh per individual), offer Internet banking, facilitate money transfers and sell insurance and mutual funds. Besides, the company can issue ATM/debit cards, but not credit cards. Its shares however fell by 0.09 per cent to close at Rs 559.55 apiece on Thursday.
  5. Aditya Birla Nuvo: The Reserve Bank on Wednesday granted in-principle approval to 11 entities, including Aditya Birla Nuvo, to set up payments banks. Its shares however fell by 1.99 per cent to close at Rs 2217 apiece on Thursday.
