Stocks in news: Dishman Pharma, Sterlite and more

Shares of Dishman Pharma surged after the company informed BSE that it has got the license for manufacture of SIRTURO (bedaquiline) API, used in treatment of multi-drug resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB).

Recovering from previous two days' losses, the benchmark Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensex closed 171.15 points up on Wednesday on value buying amid weak European markets and lingering global growth worries.

The 30-share barometer closed 0.67 per cent up at 25,822.99. On similar lines, the broader Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) closed at 7,845.95, up by 0.43 per cent from its previous close.

  • Dishman Pharmaceuticals & Chemicals: Shares of Dishman Pharma surged after the company informed BSE that it has got the license for manufacture of SIRTURO (bedaquiline) API, used in treatment of multi-drug resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB). Its shares closed 16.22 per cent up at Rs 306.95 apiece on Wednesday.
  • MindTree: Digital transformation and technology services company Mindtree said on Tuesday that it has launched a state-of-the-art Global Learning & Delivery Centre in Bhubaneshwar in Odisha at an investment of $20 million. Its shares rose 1.88 per cent to close at Rs 1497.55 apiece on Wednesday.
  • Amtek Auto: Even as cash-crunch hit Amtek Auto informed exchanges that it's in advanced talks with banks for fresh funds to repay its Rs 800 crore debt, lenders on Wednesday denied any such discussions and said they've serious reservation about further lending to the auto component maker. Its shares fell 3.05 per cent to close at Rs 44.55 apiece on Wednesday.
  • Motherson Sumi Systems: Extending its losses for the third straight day, shares of auto component maker Motherson Sumi Systems fell nearly 6 per cent on Wednesday amid concerns related to Volkswagen, which is facing a fine of up to $18 billion in the US for using device to falsify emissions data. The stock however pared losses and closed Rs 4.70 up at Rs 246.60 apiece.  
  • Sterlite Technologies: Sterlite Technologies on Wednesday announced the acquisition of telecom software product firm Elitecore Technologies at Rs 180 crore in an all-cash deal to widen its telecom portfolio. Its shares closed 2.73 per cent up at Rs 82.80 apiece.
