The benchmark Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensex closed 40.51 points higher at 25,863.50 in a lacklustre trade on Thursday.

On similar lines, the broader Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) closed 0.29% higher at 7,868.50.

Below are the stocks that made news today:

  • Lupin: Shares of Lupin closed 3.55 per cent higher on the BSE today. The pharma company has increased the price of its diabetes drug, Fortamet by 3 times for 500 mg and 1000 mg variants.
  • Coal India: Shares of the state-run coal mining company closed at Rs 318.60 apiece, lower by 2.79 per cent from its previous close on Thursday. The state-run firm announced on Wednesday that it may revise  its estimates of capex for the next five years.
  • Hotel Leelaventure: Luxury hospitality chain Hotel Leelaventure said on Wednesday that its shareholders have approved the proposal to raise additional long-term funds up to Rs 1,000 crore through issue of securities. Shares of Hotel Leelaventure closed 1 per cent lower on Thursday.
  • Elder Pharma: Shares of the drug company closed 12.39 per cent higher on BSE following the reports that the company is planning to sell some of its factories to raise money and repay creditors.
  • L&T: Industrial group Larsen & Toubro is looking to sell some assets including roads and infrastructure projects and dilute its stake in non-core subsidiaries to revive performance, the group's executive chairman said on Wednesday. Shares of the company closed at Rs 1462.25, lower by 2.25 per cent from its previous close.
