I-T returns deadline extended

The Central Board of Direct Taxes has extended the due date of filing I-T returns for the assessment year 2010-11 from September 30 to October 15.

The income tax (I-T) department has extended the last date of filing returns by corporates for the assessment year 2010-11 to October 15, on account of disturbance due to floods in many parts of the country.

"The Central Board of Direct Taxes has extended the due date of filing I-T returns for the assessment year 2010-11 from September 30 to October 15. The date has been extended in view of disturbance to general life caused by the floods in different states, including Bihar and Uttarakhand," an official statement said on Tuesday.

Accordingly, the deadline for obtaining tax audit report also stands extended to October 15.

CBDT further said the due date for Jammu and Kashmir remains November 30.
