WHY INVEST IN IT?

SBI Magnum Equity invests at least 70% of its corpus in equity and equityrelated instruments, and the balance in debt and money market instruments. The holdings are rigidly limited to companies with the top 100 market capitalisation. The portfolio must also have a certain percentage of its holding in line with its benchmark, the CNX Nifty, with strict limits on the deviation the fund can have from the benchmark. Since 2006, the fund has performed consistently, barring 2008. It was also able to curtail its fall better than peers in 2011 and managed to better the category average in 2012. It's a long-term holding with low risk due to investments in large-cap stocks.

MEET THE FUND MANAGER

R Srinivasan has been at the helm of the fund since May 2009. He has over 19 years of experience in the capital markets and is also at the helm of five other funds from SBI. He's also been consistently rated as a top fund manager.
