Motor insurers bet on mobility

     Print Edition: March 2013

Met with a car accident while on the way to office or on the highway? You can now instantly register for claim from your insurance company using mobile apps. Just click the picture of your damaged car and send it along with an intimation of the accident to your insurance firm.

Companies such as ICICI Lombard and Bajaj Alliance General Insurance have launched new mobile apps "Insure" and "Eezee Tab", respectively, to register claims through mobile phones.

Apart from instant claim registration, these also allows customers to buy or renew insurance and track the status of their claims and reimbursements. You can also use the apps to pay for insurance using credit or debit cards. Once the premium is debited from your account, the motor insurance policy will be issued instantly.

In case you need a physical copy of the policy, you can get it printed. Some apps also help you locate the nearest network garage, hospital or the insurer's branch through a geo-tagging software. These apps are expected to ease procedures and reduce paperwork.
