'Absolutely free calls! All you have to do is listen to an advertisement!'

Seems like a scam? Not if you're using the PhokatCall service in Ahmedabad. Launched by a social marketing start-up firm, Aryan Global Networks, this is a unique free calling facility for both prepaid and postpaid mobile phone users and is accessible from all major mobile service networks.

The caller just needs to listen to a 30-40 second ad prior to connecting to the desired number. There is a daily call-time limit of two minutes per customer. The project is on a pilot run in Ahmedabad.

"Depending on the response, we plan to launch the service in other metro cities and also extend the talk time limit," says Ashish Kumar Kaithwas, founder of PhokatCall.
