A year after hitting the theatres with our first animation film Chhota Bheem And The Curse of Damyaan, Green Gold Animation, is back with Chota Bheem And The Throne Of Bali.
This time, we went about with a bigger budget.... Almost double that of last year and spent a lot more on script and the location. The team also visited Bali. Chi-laka is an animation entrepreneur and Chhota Bheem is the main character in the eponymous animation series he created for television.
On the release of Chhota Bheem And The Curse of Damayaan last year, we had spent around Rs 5 crore and had almost recovered the whole amount. This year, it is a bit more challenging. We know that generally children's animation films don't do big business but we are hopeful as in the first two weeks we managed to rake in close to Rs 3.5 crore. We are also planning an international release of the movie this time. Our aim is to develop this area and we want to be committed to this market.
A lot of studios in India are tak-ing up domestic work. This is encouraging as the trend towards people going for domestic market.
Over the last year a lot of work on children's animation shows on television like Chhota Chintu Bada Feku, Motu Patlu and Sha-timaan were done by Indian studios. For instance, Green Gold itself did some amount of work for Chhota Chintu Bada Feku.
