Today in history: André Michelin, the man who moved the world

Born on January 16, 1853, André Jules Michelin, along with his younger brother Édouard founded the Michelin et Cie in 1889, which invented the detachable pneumatic tyre, credited to Édouard, and later, the steel-belted radial tyre. The company he founded would later become a majority owner of French car maker Citroën - a stake it held for 40 years till 1975.
