Private sector willing to support govt in coronavirus vaccine roll-out, says FICCI

The private sector is willing to support and augment government's capacity across the value chain of COVID-19 vaccine distribution and administration, industry body FICCI on Thursday said. The FICCI-EY paper, that was developed in consultation with various stakeholders states that India would need 1.3-1.4 lakh vaccination centres, 1 lakh healthcare professionals and 2.0 lakh support staff/ volunteers to support government's mass-inoculation programme.

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk is now the richest person in the world, according to latest data on Bloomberg Billionaires Index (BBI), which is a ranking of the world's 500 wealthiest people. Musk's net worth now stands at over $188 billion, one billion dollars more than Amazon founder Jeff Bezos's net worth of $187 billion, thanks to the continued rise in Tesla's stock price. Bezos had been the richest person since 2017.

MG Motor launches 'refreshed' Hector SUV at Rs 12.9 lakh; adds 7-seater version

Chinese carmaker MG Motor India on Thursday refreshed its five-seater midsize SUV Hector while also adding a seven-seater version of the car. It had launched a six-seater version too last year. MG, which is owned by China's largest carmaker SAIC, had entered the Indian market with a bang in 2019 with the Hector receiving instant success. More than 40,000 units of the car have been sold in India so far.

At least 10 per cent of Covid-19 vaccines procured by the Centre may face "programmatic wastage", according to the vaccination plan guidelines released by the Ministry of Health and Family Affairs Ministry. This means nearly 10 in every 100 vaccines the Centre will buy from approved vaccine makers such as Serum Institute & Bharat Biotech may suffer damage in different phases of vaccine management. Also, the Centre will have to order 110 vaccines to vaccinate 50 people, considering a two-dose regime and 10 per cent "wastage".

COVID-19: Centre finalises 41 destinations for vaccine delivery

Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan on Thursday said that the COVID-19 vaccines 'Covishield' and 'Covaxin' are on the verge of being rolled out. The Centre has finalised 41 destinations for the delivery of coronavirus vaccines. In the north region, Karnal and the national capital Delhi have been selected as mini-hub for the delivery of vaccines. In the east and northeast region, Kolkata will be the hub for the vaccines' delivery. Whereas, Pune will be the central hub, and Chennai and Hyderabad will be southern India's hub.
