Two years of GST: Govt to introduce new reforms in indirect tax regime on July 1

On the second anniversary of Goods and Services Tax (GST) on July 1st, the Ministry of Finance will launch some reforms in the indirect tax regime, including a new return system, rationalisation of cash-ledger system and a single refund-disbursing mechanism, among others. Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs Anurag Thakur will also give a presentation on the occasion. One of the key reforms, which will be introduced today, is the pilot on 'new return filing' system, which will enable traders to file returns in a single format once a month instead of multiple ones.

Google found guilty of misusing Android dominance in India, CCI orders wider probe

Google appears to have misused its dominant position in India and reduced the ability of device manufacturers to opt for alternate versions of its Android mobile operating system, Indian officials found before ordering a wider probe in an antitrust case. A 14-page order from the Competition Commission of India (CCI), reviewed by Reuters this week, found Google's restrictions on manufacturers seemed to amount to imposition of "unfair conditions" under India's competition law.

Relief to households! LPG Gas cylinders to cost Rs 100 less from today

LPG cylinders will cost cheaper by Rs 100.50 from today, the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) said in its release. Ola, Uber's ride-sharing services get a brake in Karnataka

The transport department of Karnataka has prohibited Ola and Uber from continuing their pool services in the state. In a  close-door meeting, the Karnataka transport department told ride-hailing firms-Ola and Uber that their carpooling services are illegal as there was no provision in the transport rule for 'carpooling service' in the state, thus, the companies have violated the Motor Vehicle Act.
