Mumbai weather: Schools, junior colleges closed after IMD issues 'heavy rainfall' warning

Maharashtra state authorities have decided to close schools and junior colleges in Mumbai, Thane and Konkan regions for today after the Indian Meteorological Department's (IMD) issued a warning and predicted heavy rainfall in the region. Minister of School Education Ashish Shelar said the decision had been taken as a precautionary measure after taking into consideration the suggestions from the local authorities.

Amazon Alexa to speak Hindi, Hinglish and understand regional accents, dialects

Expanding its reach in India, Amazon has introduced Hindi and Hinglish support for its digital assistant Alexa. Introduced in India almost two years ago, Alexa, the brain that powers Echo hardware, only supported the English language until now. However, it used to understand and pronounce the names of popular places, names and songs in many regional languages such as Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi and Punjabi, but could not communicate in the same. This is Amazon's major step to make Alexa more 'Indian'.

Transport strike in Delhi-NCR: Transport unions across Delhi and National Capital Region are holding a day-long strike on Thursday to protest heavy penalties under the newly amended Motor Vehicles Act.
