At 9.1%, India to see decade's lowest salary hike in 2020: report

Slowdown in the economy is reflected in subdued salary increase projections in the country. The 24th annual Salary Increase Survey by professional services firm Aon finds that companies in India will give an average pay hike of 9.1 per cent in 2020, the lowest in the decade. Companies in India gave an average pay increase of 9.3 per cent during 2019.

Coronavirus scare: Death toll in China rises to 2,000; Hubei province reports 1,693 new cases on Tuesday

New coronavirus cases in the Chinese province at the epicenter of the outbreak fell for a second straight day, but deaths rose after the World Health Organisation had cautioned there was not yet enough data to know if the epidemic had slowed. Hubei reported 1,693 new cases as of Tuesday, down from 1,807 the previous day and the lowest number in the province since February 11. But deaths rose by 132, up from 93 the previous day. The latest figures bring the total number of cases in China to over 74,000 with about 2,000 deaths.

Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday presented its fourth state Budget for fiscal 2020-21, promising $1-trillion economy for the biggest state of the country. UP's Finance Minister Suresh Khanna allotted Rs 5,12,860 crore budget for 2020-21, which happens to be the biggest-ever state Budget. In the previous year, the government had allotted Rs 4.79 lakh crore budget for the state.

Consumer confidence in urban India picked up by 2.5 per cent in February after a slump of 7.3 per cent in the previous month as tax exemptions in Union Budget 2020 boosted the mood, says market research company Ipsos. Consumer confidence of urban Indians rose across all four indices - jobs, economy, personal investment and personal finances.
