Covid-19 vaccine: AstraZeneca applies for approval in Japan

Drugmaker AstraZeneca PLC said on Friday it had applied for approval in Japan of its COVID-19 vaccine, making it the second pharmaceutical firm to do so after Pfizer Inc. The Japanese government in December signed a contract to procure 120 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine, enough for 60 million people.

Aviation sector showing positive signs but still in eye of storm: Airbus India president

The Indian aviation sector is showing positive signs after being completely shut down during the coronavirus-induced lockdown last year but remains in the "eye of the storm", Remi Maillard, President and Managing Director, Airbus India and South Asia has said. Indian airlines are currently carrying 60 per cent of the total pre-COVID domestic passengers and this is better than most countries in the world, he said in an interview.

RBI predicts 26% economic growth in first half of FY22

The Reserve Bank of India projected Indian economy to grow as much as 26.2 per cent during the first half of the upcoming financial year. In its monetary policy announcement, the central bank expected measures to boost economic activity in the backdrop of the coronavirus pandemic and decisions of the latest Union Budget to drive growth momentum. Considering various factors at play, real GDP growth is projected at 10.5 per cent in 2021-22 - in the range of 26.2 to 8.3 per cent in H1 and 6.0 per cent in Q3, RBI's Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) stated in its growth outlook.

PM SVANidhi scheme: Zomato sign MoU to take street food vendors' businesses online

Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Zomato for empowering street food vendors with new digital technology and to provide greater income-earning opportunities on the food delivery platform. As part of PM SVANidhi Scheme, MoHUA and Zomato will work together to onboard street food vendors on Zomato's food-tech platform, a ministry statement explained.
