RBI to inject liquidity of Rs 1 lakh crore in banks
The Reserve Bank has said it will inject additional liquidity of Rs 1 lakh crore in banks through longer tenor instruments to enable flexibility towards meeting their fund needs. The RBI said in order to address additional demand for liquidity and with a view to provide flexibility to the banking system in its liquidity management towards March-end, "It is prepared to inject adequate additional liquidity using a combination of appropriate instruments." This will be in addition to normal Liquidity Adjustment Facility (LAF) operations.

Sales domain can create 2.5 million jobs in 3 years says report
According to a report by Economic Times, employment and HR services company TeamLease has stated that the sales domain in India has the potential to create 2.5 million jobs by 2021 without any structural reforms, and 10 million jobs with structural reforms. The report, titled India's Job Market Salvation: Sales, said the FMCG/FMCD sector alone has the potential to create 30% of the 2.5 million jobs while organised retail overall has the potential to create 50% of these jobs.

COAI tells Reliance Jio to withdraw defamation notice
Industry body Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) has hit back at Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd, stating that the telecom firm should withdraw its defamation notice and publicly apologize to the association, COAI director general Rajan Mathews said in a letter, as reported by Mint. The letter from Mathews comes days after the company, owned by Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries Ltd, sent a notice to COAI to immediately stop publishing false and defamatory imputations against Jio and issue a public apology. Jio's allegation that COAI had acted arbitrarily, discriminatorily and as a mouthpiece of some members was misconceived, Mathews said.

GST revenue in 2018-19 to grow at 14-16%: SBI Ecowrap
Describing recent speculation on GST collection targets for the current and next fiscals as being "overtly aggressive", State Bank of India estimated that the Goods and Services Tax collection for 2018-19 would grow at a rate of 14-16 per cent. In an SBI Ecowrap report titled "The Arithmetic of GST Collections", Chief Economist Soumya Kanti Ghosh noted that the speculative collection target pegged at Rs 7.4 lakh crore is 67 per cent higher than the revised estimates for the financial year 2017-18.

Tata Motors turns women-friendly
Country's largest auto-maker Tata Motors is turning more women-friendly, and hopes to increase hiring rate of women employees to 25 per cent over the next four to five years. It can be noted that Tata Motors's Pune plant was the first manufacturing plant in the country to have a female engineer on its assembly line way back in April 1974 when the late JRD Tata had personally hired Sudha Murthy, the wife of Infosys co-founder NR Narayana Murthy.
