The CBI has asked the Interpol to issue a Red Corner Notice against absconding billionaire jeweller Nirav Modi in the over USD 2 billion banking scam involving Punjab National Bank. The agency has written to the Interpol to issue the notice which would mean that the member countries of the Lyon-based international police cooperation agency can arrest and extradite Nirav Modi who fled the country in January.

Hyundai celebrates production of 80 lakh cars in India - no 8 million is new Creta

Country's second largest car manufacturer, Hyundai India has announced that their cumulative production in the country has crossed the 80 lakh mark. Yes, the South Korean company has successfully manufactured their 8 millionth car from their plant in Chennai. Car number 8 million is the all new Creta, which was launched just a few days back. Hyundai started their journey in India back in 1996. The sold their 1 millionth car in 2006.

The e-way bill roll out on April 1 was credited with the improvement in GST compliance during the month. The GST collection for the month of April collected in May amounted to Rs 94,016 crore, compared to the average Rs 89,885 crore recorded in 2017-18. The e-way bill system under the GST regime was rolled out with promises to help traders and economy - no more waiting transporters at toll booths, no more harassment by corrupt octroi officials, and the taxes on goods movement get paid. To avoid paying GST on movement of goods, traders are now shipping their merchandise using animal-drawn carts and manual carts as e-way bill is not charged on goods transport via non-motorised vehicles, a report by Financial Express said.

ICICI Bank CEO Chanda Kochhar may face Rs 25 crore penalty if found guilty: Report

Weeks after the Sebi served a notice to Chanda Kochhar, it has been reported that the ICICI Bank CEO and MD could face a maximum Rs 25 crore penalty if charges are found to be true. The market regulator last month sent a notice to the ICICI Bank and its CEO Chanda Kochhar, seeking their response on matters relating to alleged non-compliance with certain provisions of the erstwhile Listing Agreement and the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015. Mint today reported that under the current notice, the Sebi has no power to ask ICICI Bank top executive to step down but it can impose financial penalty.

Northern Railways to facilitate cleanliness in trains through WhatsApp groups

However, this will change soon as the Northern wing of the Indian Railways is all set to use WhatsApp for monitoring cleanliness in trains. With the help of technology, the Railways aims to bring about greater transparency and accountability in its functioning. Besides, the Railways has also set up a new plant at the Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station in Delhi, which would assist in cleaning coaches within minutes.
