Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan on Sunday urged people to stay away from large congregations and diligently follow COVID-19 guidelines during the upcoming festive season, saying no religion or God asks people to celebrate ostentatiously.
Requesting people to celebrate the approaching festivals at home with their loved ones instead of going out to fairs and pandals, he said fighting against COVID-19 is everyone's foremost "dharma".
Snapdeal adds over 5,000 manufacturers, sellers till September this year
Homegrown marketplace Snapdeal has added over 5,000 manufacturer-sellers on its platform so far this year, most of them in the September quarter, exceeding the target it had set for itself earlier in the year, a top company official has said. Though it began on-boarding new manufacturers directly as sellers from January, majority of the sign-ups have taken place in the September quarter, the official said, thanks to the lockdowns and the resultant shift in consumer behaviour.
Air India employees get more time to opt for leave without pay, salary cuts
Air India has reportedly extended the deadline for its permanent staff to opt for leave without pay and shorter working weeks with a pay cut. Air India employees can now avail of these schemes till March 31, 2021. In July, Air India had rolled out a scheme where employees would be sent on leave without pay for six months or for a period of two years extendable upto five years.
Digital payments jumped manifold in last 5 years: RBI
Concerted efforts by the Reserve Bank to move to a non/less-cash economy by pushing digital payments have begun to pay rich dividends as the volume of such payments has jumped manifold in the past five years, the latest data from the central bank showed. Between 2015-16 and 2019-20, digital payments have grown at a compounded annual growth rate of 55.1 per cent.

The Delhi government has exempted road tax on battery-operated vehicles under its new Electric Vehicle Policy, Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot said on Sunday. People have been asked to give their suggestions on the exemption of the registration fees of electric vehicles, according to a Delhi government statement. It said an order to waive the fees will be issued in three days.
Modi launches property-card scheme to aid rural households
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a property-card scheme on Sunday that he vowed would provide clarity of property rights in villages and enable farmers to use their property as collateral for loans from financial institutions. Two-thirds of India's population lives in rural areas, where few possess proper land records and property disputes are common. The government plans to use drone technology to map land parcels in rural areas and cover some 620,000 villages over the next four years, Modi said.
