Centre asks states to accept driving licence, vehicle docs in electronic format

The Union transport ministry has asked states to facilitate acceptance of driving licence and other documents like vehicle registration certificates in electronic format by enforcement agencies. Vehicle owners can also show their documents like driving licence, RCs and insurance certificates through mobile apps like Digilocker and mParivahan app, the Road Transport and Highways Ministry said

IDFC Bank merges with Capital First, new entity called IDFC First Bank

New generation private sector IDFC Bank and non-banking financial company Capital First announced the completion of their merger on Tuesday, creating a combined loan asset book of Rs 1.03 lakh crore for the merged entity IDFC First Bank. The board of IDFC Bank approved the appointment of V Vaidyanathan, founder and chairman of Capital First Ltd, as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the merged entity.

RBI increases liquidity infusion to Rs 50,000 crore

The Reserve Bank on Tuesday said it has decided to scale up the amount of liquidity infusion by Rs 10,000 crore to Rs 50,000 crore this month after a review of the evolving liquidity conditions. The central bank had earlier announced to infuse liquidity amounting to Rs 40,000 crore through the purchase of government securities under Open Market Operations (OMOs) during December. The RBI has already injected Rs 20,000 crore through two OMO purchase auctions.
 
LIC makes open offer to acquire 26% stake in IDBI Bank

 State-owned IDBI Bank Tuesday said it has received final letter from Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) for an open offer to acquire additional 26 per cent in the lender.The open offer has been made at a price of Rs 61.73 a share, which is in connection with LIC's acquisition of 51 per cent controlling stake in IDBI Bank.
 
Trump to attend Davos World Economic Forum
 
US President Donald Trump would attend the annual World Economic Forum meeting in Davos in January, the White House has said. For the second consecutive year, Trump would attend the global meet. Notably, Trump had declined India's invitation to attend the annual Republic Day Parade in New Delhi on January 26. The White House had cited scheduling conflicts as one of the reasons.

US President Donald Trump took a swipe at tech giants Facebook, Twitter and Google, accusing them of being biased in favor of opposition Democrats. "Facebook, Twitter and Google are so biased toward the Dems it is ridiculous!" Trump tweeted. "Twitter, in fact, has made it much more difficult for people to join @realDonaldTrump.
