First coronavirus vaccine shots likely on January 13: Health Ministry

Union Health Ministry announced on Tuesday that coronavirus vaccines will be rolled out within 10 days of granting emergency use approval based on the feedback of dry-run across the country. The announcement by the ministry comes just days after the DCGI (Drugs Controller General of India) approved Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine, Covishield, domestically manufactured by the Serum Institute of India and Bharat Biotech's indigenous Covaxin for restricted emergency use.

The Indian economy is witnessing a V-shaped recovery since June with gradual reopening of economic activities, according to the Finance Ministry's latest monthly economic review. The report noted that the impending COVID-19 vaccination is set to accelerate the momentum in economic activity globally.

RBI slaps Rs 2.5 crore fine on Bajaj Finance for violating recovery practices

The Reserve Bank of India has imposed a penalty of Rs 2.5 crore on Bajaj Finance Limited, a part of Bajaj Group, for breaching regulatory norms pertaining to recovery and collection methods. The monetary penalty has been imposed as the non-banking financial company (NBFC) has failed to ensure that its recovery agents did not resort to harassment or intimidation of customers.

Can ready children's Covid vaccine in 3-4 months: Bharat Biotech's Krishna Ella

While most of the world's COVID vaccine development efforts have been focused on adults, Bharat Biotech has said that it can ready a children's vaccine in 3-4 months for kids between 2 to 12 years of age. While current vaccines can only be administered to adults 16 years of age or above, the Hyderabad-based company's indigenously developed vaccine, Covaxin, is the only jab approved for children 12 years or above under emergency use authorisation.  

Serum Institute, Bharat Biotech pledge "smooth" vaccine rollout

The Serum Institute of India and Bharat Biotech issued a joint statement on Tuesday, January 5, pledging their support towards a smooth roll out of COVID-19 vaccines to India and the world. The statement was necessitated after a remark by Serum against the quality of the vaccine was strongly contested by Bharat on Monday, January 4.
