Post-budget cheer: Foreign investors pump in Rs 22,000 crore in February

Overseas investors pumped in Rs 22,038 crore into the Indian markets in February so far amid positive sentiments around the Union Budget. According to depositories data, overseas investors poured Rs 20,593 crore into equities and Rs 1,445 crore in the debt segment, taking the total net investment to Rs 22,038 crore between February 1-12.

Centre issues fresh SOPs to contain COVID-19 spread in offices

The Union health ministry has issued new 'SOPs to contain spread of COVID-19 in offices' and according to these, if one or two cases are reported, the disinfection procedure will be limited to the areas occupied and visited by the patient in the last 48 hours. Work can resume after disinfection has been completed as per laid down protocols, the standard operating procedures (SOPs), which were issued on Saturday, stated. If a larger number of cases are reported at workplace, the whole block or building should be disinfected before work is resumed, the ministry said. The seating arrangement has to be done to ensure a distance of at least six feet, the SOPs stated.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is scheduled to address the post-Budget meeting of the RBI's central board on Tuesday and highlight key points of Union Budget 2021-22, including the fiscal consolidation roadmap. Fiscal deficit - the excess of government expenditure over its revenues - is estimated to hit a record high of 9.5 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP) in the current fiscal ending March 31 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Snapchat crosses 60 million users in India, clocks 150% growth in daily active users

With over 150 per cent growth in daily active users (DAUs), the US-based photo-messaging app Snapchat saw its user base crossing 60 million-mark in India in the December quarter. Globally, Snapchat had 265 million daily active users in the December 2020 quarter. Over five billion 'snaps' were created daily on average by users on the platform, according to a report in PTI news agency.
