GIC, TPG to invest about $1 billion in Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Retail

Reliance Industries announced that Singapore sovereign wealth fund GIC and global private equity firm TPG Capital would invest nearly $1 billion in its retail arm, Reliance Retail Ventures. GIC will invest Rs 5,512.5 crore and TPG will invest Rs 1,837.5 crore in the retail arm. In a regulatory filing, Reliance said that the firms would pick 1.22 per cent equity stake and 0.41 per cent equity stake in RRVL respectively.

Indian Railways to run 200 special trains from October 15 for festival season

Indian Railways is planning to run 200 additional IRCTC special trains between October 15 and November 30 to deal with huge number of crowd travelling during the festive season. Railway Board Chairman and CEO V.K. Yadav on Thursday said that the national transporter is planning to introduce 200 special trains from October 15. This would help in catering passengers travelling during the festive season.

PM Modi to inaugurate longest highway tunnel Atal Tunnel connecting Manali-LehPrime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate on Saturday the strategically important all-weather Atal Tunnel, which reduces the distance between Manali and Leh by 46 km and the travel time by four to five hours, at Rohtang in Himachal Pradesh. After the inauguration, Modi will also attend public functions at Sissu in Lahaul Spiti and at Solang Valley, said his office on Thursday.

Unlock 5: Reopening of school not compulsory on October 15, clarifies MHA

Days after Centre issued Unlock 5 guidelines on reopening of schools, the Home Ministry on Friday clarified that it is not compulsory for schools to reopen on October 15. Under the Unlock 5 guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Wednesday, states and union territories have been given the flexibility to take a decision on reopening of schools and coaching institutions in a graded manner. The decision has to be taken in consultation with the respective school/ institution management, based on their assessment of the situation, and subject to certain conditions.
